are no misunderstandings about what we have.
We are twin sisters living on a fixed income. This year we
have each been in the hospital at least twice each. Rainbow
was supposed to have had open heart surgery this summer (
2007) however, it is no longer necessary.
Rainbow nearly died from serious diabetic complications and
had a heart attack in September 2006.
I had mandatory surgery on
my foot due to diabetic complications and returned to the
hospital to have a non-cancerous
TEN POUND tumor removed, resulting in a full
hysterectomy. My foot is healing SOME now but I have been
told now that I have nerve damage that may keep me in this
power wheelchair. I can walk a little if I use a walker and
don't stray too far from home!! There is now the possibility
of a neurological condition called Ataxia. It is difficult
to diagnose properly and is not always detected by an MRI.
I have applied for disability, but as everyone knows, that
takes a while...even then you sometimes don't get it. Neither
of us can WORK even though we would LOVE to! I may not be
able to go back to a regular job again. We are hopeful that
Rainbow may be able to return to work soon.
As of May 2007, Rainbow now has had a diabetic foot ulcer
also, caused by her foot being punctured by a wire that got
into her shoe and is now also going thru recuperation and
daily care for that. Its been an amazinngly difficult time
for us. Selling the things we create or things we have collected
over time that we are no longer using or have never used is
one way we can try to generate a much needed extra income.
At the moment, we are still taking care of our 83 year old
mom and will do so as long as we can even though it is very
difficult due to her frail physical and mental health. It
is important for us to keep her at home with us as long as
we are able to do so.
 Updates
As of July 2007, Sunny has been tentatively
diagnosed with Ataxia a condiition that has affected
her mobility, coordination and balance and eventually
possibly speech and may have some effect upon memory.
It is apparently progressive and has no cure...it
can only be managed. It is difficult to diagnose.
